The weekend I left for Oregon they redrew the boundaries for several wards in my stake. My ward was drastically altered, but I got to keep my bishop and that is what counts, right? Well it did to me. That meant that I really didn't know anyone when I went to church. I hung out with my bishop's wife and tried to get to know some new faces. One of those faces happened to be Ryan. We have had an interesting and quite amusing journey the past month getting to know each other.
We went off roading in his truck the first night I met him. We played Nertz with a group of friends. We have been to Concerts in the Park the past three Sundays. We've played soccer, thrown a softball around, gone hiking, had dinner, watched movies, listened to records, played dress up in Cal Ranch, danced in the dark while no one was watching, put air in my bicycle tires, and talked for hours and hours and hours. My favorite adventure we have been on I'll have to save for another occasion.
Another amazing adventure I had was hiking up Table Rock for my third time. This was definitely memorable. Mike and I decided that we wanted to go, so I invited some people and planned for a midnight excursion. We left Rexburg at 1:30 in the morning and started up the trail head at 2:45. We went up the face trail with I had only been down before. It got my heart rate up pretty quick, but I had some great bonding time with Michael. We got to the top just before the sun rose. It was magnificent.
This picture doesn't do it justice!
We came down a way I had never been. Hopefully I will get some other pictures later to show just how crazy it was. But we happened by this tree just hanging on by its roots. I estimated it was about 12 miles that we hiked in 6.5 hours. The elevation change was 4,000 ft. So it was no small feat, but I was exhausted. I was sure Michael started sleep walking at one point. He toughed it out and made the hike without dying.
So to end the exciting month, this weekend my nephew is turning 1, I have a family reunion on Saturday and then we are having a big fishing trip for my Grandpa's 80th birthday on Monday. Never a dull moment!
