Missionary Moment

So I had the opportunity yesterday to have a gospel discussion with some inquiring friends. I feel like the whole discussion ended up being more for my benefit than theirs. The conversation started because my brother got married on Friday in the Brigham City Temple. The conversation hit on just about every gospel topic you could think of. I was pretty overwhelmed and wasn't really sure if I helped answer any of their questions. Our conversation lasted about 4 hours. About half way through I decided I should figure out what their religious background was. Turns out they are atheist, which is why I felt like I wasn't getting anywhere. It is hard to explain why I believe things if they are all based upon God's laws and they don't believe in God. They asked me some pretty deep questions and now I feel like I have a focus for my gospel study. So the next time I get this opportunity I'm going to be better prepared. I wanted to have my scriptures with me, but if they don't believe in the bible either than it is a little difficult to use that as a convincing source.

Just so you know I have a strong testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God. I know that he restored the Church of Jesus Christ under direction from God. I know Thomas S. Monson is the living prophet of God at this time. He speaks for God and leads this church under divine direction. I know that as I strive to keep the commandments and covenants I've made in the temple I will be perfected through the atonement of Jesus Christ. I know that God hears and answers my prayers. I know that he is aware of me and my challenges. I know that God loves me and that I am his daughter. I know that families can be together for eternity. I know that I have a divine mission here on earth. I know that I can access the power of God through worth priesthood holders. I know that I receive personal revelation and direction directly from God specifically for my life. I know that as I repent I can be forgiven of my sins and transgressions. I know that Jesus Christ lives.

Extra Bonus I just realized this is my 100th post!

Can anyone say over scheduled?

The next three weeks are going to be crazy! I'm working tomorrow because I have to make up days I will be missing here at the end of my clinical. Next week I will work Monday through Thursday. On Wednesday I will present my in-service to the staff on rehabing patients with Parkinson's Disease. Friday I will going to my brother's wedding. Over next weekend I will finish any review I have left for my big test. April 30th I will take my licensing exam, which will be in Salt Lake City. I'm totally going to rock that test! After this I will return home from my last three days of clinicals. Then the real fun begins.

I will get one day break to relax and pack. Then I'll be flying to Yakima, Washington on Sunday. Monday I'll have my interview and see what they are going to offer me. Tuesday I fly back to Salt Lake. Wednesday I fly out to Casper, Wyoming. Thursday I have my interview in the morning and fly back to Salt Lake that night. Friday morning I drive back home so that I can make it to my graduation banquet. Saturday morning I graduate with my Doctorate of Physical Therapy!

Then you know what I'm going to do on Monday, I'm going to sleep in! I'm going to take a break and relax! So here is to conquering the next three weeks.

Momentum activity: Acknowledge accomplishments daily

I was just reading a blog and it was talking about celebrating your accomplishments. I don't know how many days I get to the end of and feel like haven't accomplished anything. If I really look at my day I've done so much. When I get into these moods, then I really do stop accomplishing things because I'm so weighed down by the things I haven't finished. So for the next two weeks I'm going to acknowledge my accomplishments on my blog. This is my momentum starter!

Day 1

1. Went to work for 8 hours.
2. Finished all my documentation on time.
3. Helped my patients smile.
4. Had a phone interview with a company I want to work for. I will schedule a second interview for next week.
5. Called my recruiter and discussed my interview schedule for the rest of the week.

It is only six thirty right now so there is still a lot of day left to be had. Things I will accomplish tonight:

1. Cook a delicious meal.
2. Clean my room.
3. Do the dishes.
4. Go to institute.
5. Study for an hour.
6. Read my scriptures.
7. Go to bed by 11.

I am accomplishing great things!

Conference = Inspiration + Peace of Mind

So I should be sleeping right now but I just wanted to share a few feelings I've had this weekend from conference. Before I watched conference I wrote down a couple questions I've been struggling with lately. It was amazing to see them answered by every talk. Here are some things I picked out:

Faith                             Christ's sure foundation

                                                  return to virtue

Atonement allows for improvement over time

          Mercy
Turn to the savior - he is the living water

Priesthood is the power of god - men aren't the priesthood

               Draw near unto Christ

Our spirit must control our body

                                                                              Atonement

                      Don't deny your true identity

                                                    Love increases through righteous restraint

                                                   Christ is the great physician

                                                                                        Keep my commandments

                                                                          forgive
